Great Smoky Mountains by Josh Leonard, Haynesfield Elementary, Bristol.
SHOWN ARE THE WINNERS WHICH WERE SENT TO NASHVILLE.
The Bristol Mall exhibition may be seen through February 28 on the second level, behind the Customer Service Desk. The show was coordinated by Arts Alliance Mountain Empire, a local arts council that publishes A! Magazine for the Arts, the premier magazine about art, theater, dance and music in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
For "My Home is Tennessee," students were asked to create a poster that depicted what is unique and important about their community and could possibly inspire others to visit. The subjects they chose ranged from performing arts venues and historic sites to nature parks and sports venues like Bristol Motor Speedway.
Winners of the competition, along with their families, will be invited to attend a reception in Nashville where they will be recognized by their state legislators for their participation. An exhibition of more than 100 students' work will be on display at Legislative Plaza for approximately six weeks.
